Writing Your Own Wedding Vows?

You're probably knee-deep (or deeper!) in planning; maybe you're at the point where you're writing your vows. (Or at least thinking about it!) And every time you sit down to write them you think, "How do I write these wedding vows?" The mere thought of it makes you nervous.

Here are a few ideas to get you started; (nothing is as scary as a blank page!)

-They should be between 200-250 words or less.
-Start by calling each other by name. End with, "I love you."
-Include promises to each other.
-Don't be afraid to make them funny!
-Don’t be afraid to make them specific to you!
-Write them down. Do NOT attempt to memorize them.
-Put them on something nice; a vow book, a pretty greeting card, even a postcard if you’re at a destination location (if you are having a New Jersey shore wedding!
And remember; if you later decide that you don’t want to say them at your ceremony, in front of all those people? You don’t have to!  You can say them to each other at your first look.  Just ask your officiant to add “repeat after me’s” or “I do’s” to the ceremony. You’ll be just as married and (for some couples) a whole lot calmer!

Now, we have a "Mad Lib” vow generator so you can literally fill in nine words and it will sound like you’ve been writing for weeks! We'll post that soon!
Do you have questions about writing your vows? Let us know!
